In that sentence, I'm almost sure that you mean "bigger and better" as an idiom, not literally. Note: Ctrl+F "bigger and better" and go to the fourth instance. It's (was, since the game is dead lol) pretty viable in PvP, since a faith build doesn't have much else to use those ring slots for. Doing so in body form with a faith build was a pretty viable thing to do, since the health regeneration from a +5 blessed weapon and a +5 Adj shield on your back in addition to a Regenerator's Ring allowed you to survive an additional potential hit and then heal it off by playing like a little bitch. Oh and another thing: heavy armor was pretty workable in DeS - you just had to wear the Ring of Great Strength. Because DkS is not like this, because DkS' difficulty is unwitting, and because DkS is not named "I Wanna be the Guy", I say that DeS is the more "difficult" game, if only because DkS has such bullshit difficulty (hello Capra Demon!). In doing so, it becomes devoid of the allure DeS had, where every death prompted the player to try and better his/herself in order to succeed or at least make it a few steps further in the next attempt. This is somewhat akin to Skyrim's case while DkS' world wasn't as hilariously bad as Skyrim's, it was nowhere near as interesting as DeS', and even disregarding the comparison, was still not interesting enough for me to want to explore it.ĭifficulty: I don't consider trial-and-death a valid form of difficulty, and to label it as such and therefore concede by default that DkS is more difficult would be playing directly into From Software's hand as the developers intended - the game is difficult for its own sake, and does so unwittingly, merely to be able to reflect/taunt that it is so. For those reasons, I was not compelled to explore all that much, and accordingly did not think DkS had much to offer in that respect. It did not give the player a sense of immersion.

It would be tedious to list what I agree with, so here's what I disagree with.Įxploration: the open world-ness of DkS would "intuitively" cause one to think that there's more to explore in DkS, but I feel that for there to be exploration, there needs to be a reason to explore and not just the option to (even if said option is widespread).
